Giants Vs Lions Review Week 2

Ownership has to get involved. This O-line situation has become that bad. Ereck Flowers is not an NFL caliber player; Jerry Reese has to cut his loses and do something about it. This team is loaded on both sides of the ball but is doesn’t show.

McAdoo has been disappointing to say the least. Two phases of the team failed tonight offense and special teams. The Defense is 1/3 they cannot win games by themselves especially without Jack Rabbit. He has to shoulder the blame on this one and come up with a solution.

The Giants are 0-2 The rest of the division is 1-1. The panic going on right now is warranted but can definitely be calmed with a week 3 win. This team has high expectations and a bounce back is very much a reality.

Offense
Eli was sacked 5 times this game, it was brutal. There were times when you didn’t think he would get up. The Offenses only touchdown of the season was scored by Evan Engram. This offense has been underwhelming ever since McAdoo became head coach. The Giants haven’t scored more than 20 points in 8 games that is a very telling stat. This offense is miserable and it has permeated through the entire team.

Defense
They came to play like they have since the overhaul last year. The Held Stafford to less than 200 yards The run defense wasn’t bad they did let up a little over 100 yards. Most of the yards came towards the end of the game when the Lions were salting the game away. The defense is not the problem they make plays. The offense has perpetually put this team in horrible spots. The worst happened tonight when Jpp got a strip sack, only for Eli to throw a pick the next play.

Overall
It was another performance to forget for the Giants. The first play of the game was a strip sack. It was overturned but that doesn’t help the confidence of a struggling offense. Eli has been reduced to a shell of himself. He is too much of a professional to say it but the Ereck Flowers and this O-line have made him regress terribly. He has to do it all on the field with no help. Eli needs protection and Reese has failed him miserably. The Giants didn’t change their O-line in the offseason. A lot of people questioned that, but the flashy signing of Brandon Marshall ( who has 2 catches for 27 yards in two games) overshadowed the offensive line needs. You cannot ignore a problem and think it will get better with “continuity” that is exactly what Jerry Reese has done.

Jerry Reese did not address the O-line they also didn’t address the Running back position. Paul Perkins doesn’t move the pile forward and doesn’t break tackles. Shane Vereen is a pass catching back and has been ineffective. The Giants need a 3 down back and he is not on the roster right now.

OBJ Returns
OBJ returned today he was clearly not at 100%. He had 4 catches for 36 yards. The Lions were not going to allow him to catch many passes. He was triple covered at times. He should be a little closer to 100% next week vs the Eagles.

Up Next
The Giants roll down 95 to the Linc next sunday to face the Eagles. At 0-2 this game is a must win even more so because its a division rival. Lets hope the Giants can get the W.
